Bathroom Vanity: style and usability
Bathrooms are places where we always have to deal with water, soap, toothpaste, aftershave foam and many other things that leave spots and stains. Even if it's a room where we clean ourselves it’s also a place that needs a lot of attention to keep it clean.
Once decided to upgrade a bathroom we start to look for an interesting and modern design. Unfortunately not all of the new designers’ ideas could fit any bathroom. And size is not the main problem.
Material. All those clear glass vanity-bowls look perfect and stunning in pictures. However you have to clean them up after every use to keep that clear look otherwise you’ll get glass covered with dry water stains that are not easy to remove sometimes. It’s not the best option for a large family especially with little kids who could occasionally break the glass. Replacement will not be cheap.
Cleanliness. Type of the sink also could extend your cleaning time. Undermount sinks look more casual but they are easier to clean. Topmount sinks look modern and stylish but just imagine to clean it all around including those edges near the countertop. Water drops with soaps will flow down and collect under outside sink walls and cleaning will take a plenty of time.
Storage. Searching for a nice design you can find interesting ideas of bathroom tables with vanity that doesn’t have any storage except a couple of shelves under the sink. That’s a good idea for places that already have any storage space in a bathroom. If you’re planning to keep some extra soap, toilet paper and cleaning supplies under the sink, open storage will give your bathroom an untidy feeling.
Countertop. Most popular materials are laminate, concrete, natural stone, ceramic or porcelain tile, solid-surface. Of course, your choice has to fit your budget. Another point of consideration whether the property is rental or your own that you’re gonna renovate. Don’t forget that the countertop will contact water on a regular basis. During reno you could change your mind because not all materials could offer the color you want or any other condition could apply. A reliable contractor could recommend a better option within your budget and for your special project.
